I Can Dance
I can dance
I can tango
I love to cha-cha
and I dosey doe
I've mastered
the limbo
Just so you know
I can break dance
like old people spoil
their plants
I two-step
up the stairs
I pole vault
with the best of them
But I can't
Moonwalk
I'm out of smooth talk
I'm trying
real hard
that should count
for something

If you see this Mr. Gansert, I just want you to know I feel that I was cheated out of a good friend in Chris.
We met when he was admitted to University Of MD inpatient psych… I’m sure you wouldn’t remember me, but I sat at the table with you, your wife, and Chris many times in your daily visits.
The main thing we bonded on was talk of music. One of my friends had gave me a dinky toy keyboard to have as kind of a security blanket while I was there. I recall talking about starting a band after we got out of that place and I was always trying to make the point that I was much better on a real keyboard/piano rather than the toy I had there, but since we met in a psych setting, I’m not quite sure he ever believed me.
We must have walked a hundred miles in laps around that 11th floor just talking and trying to convince each other of how much good and potential was waiting beyond where we were at, but never believing it for ourselves.
Not long after Chris was released I was transferred to Spring Grove for long term stay. (my circumstances were not exactly normal) Soon after being there I was surprised to have a visit from Chris. He gave me the house number and told me to give him a call some time…
About a week or so had passed since he’d been there to see me when I decided to call…
Mrs. Gansert answered and when I asked for Chris she got very upset. I think she thought I was playing some cruel joke, but after I explained who I was she got very upset and told me what had happened and seemed so worried that I’d react in a similarly negative manner, but I left that conversation not sad but angry.
Anyway… I just wanted to apologize for stirring that pot up again as I may have in that call long ago, and let you know that although it was a brief encounter I had with Chris, he was certainly unique among the people I had known and have come to know, and he is not forgotten.
