Mom
I used to swim until my lips
turned blue
I was young and so were you
now I’m older but I still
feel the same about the ocean
those waves knocked me around
and I kept laughing
My mom would finally make
me get out
my lips were blue and I
was shaking
She wrapped me in two towels
and kept me warm
she hugged me like I was
just born
Finally I would warm up
and be ready for another
round, ready to be in the
oceans sound laughing
“thanks for keeping me warm, Mom”
“Thanks for keeping me warm”
“know that I love you”
“and I always will”
“thanks for keeping me warm, Mom”
“Thanks for keeping me warm”
“know that I love you”
“and I always will”
But forgive me if the riptide
grabs a hold of me and pulls
me out I didn’t want to go
as far as I went I was pulled
into the ocean I sure miss the shore
I’ll make it back I promise
I am your kid I’ll be back
Oh believe me I’ll be back
